paired back & pure / for the anti-social
Sterling Elliot , Joseph Havlat
A gift for you inspired by my time in corporate when there was nothing more that I dreaded than my lunchtime Pret sandwich and small talk. Better to do something genuinely nourishing in your lunch break and go and see the rising cellist Sterling Elliot in a paired back setting with the pianist Joseph Havlat.
immersive & romantic - for the yearners
Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto N.2 & Sibelius Symphony N.2
Trust me, skip ‘‘‘‘‘Wuthering Heights’’’’’ and go to this instead. This is an evening of music for yearners. Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto 2. (soloist Alexandre Kantorow, pictured above) is one of the most romantic pieces of music ever written and is the music for romantic imagining and life-dreaming. This paired with the lush and soaring sounds of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius; Symphony no. 2 will restore even the most cynical hearts back to life.
innovative & warm - for the curious
‘Conjuring’ #1 ft. Lucinda Chua, Ben Vince, Xiaoqiao, Saied Silbak
This is the the event that is most collectively needed right now.
‘Conjuring’ is a new event series created by vocalist, pianist and composer Tony Njoku who is bringing together four musicians for each ‘Conjuring’ from a mixture of experimental, jazz and classical spaces to improvise together for one night in a shared space.
Come and be inspired.
intimate & intense / for the film buffs
Where To From , Hildur Guðnadóttir & Friends, Saturday 21st March, Barbican (East)
Hildur Guðnadóttir (The Joker, Tar, Chernobyl) will be taking the Barbican stage in a different way this March. Joined by an ensemble made up of friends, she will be sharing music from her latest project ‘Where to From,’ which she describes as a sonic diary.
To witness the composer who spends most of the time behind the scenes in this intimate setting will make for a really special experience.
